It Only Took 30 Minutes
My wife cooked an incredible Thanksgiving meal. She made ham and tons of side dishes. She also made cheesecake, pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake. It took her around 10 hours over two days to cook the meal. After we ate Thanksgiving dinner, my wife said that it's so weird because it takes hours to cook Thanksgiving dinner and only 30 minutes to eat. We both laughed about that, but my wife's humor got me to thinking. Putting together a church service can take hours and hours of preparation every week, and only an hour to an hour and a half to actually have the service. So much goes into every Sunday service. Hours of prayer, worship practices, studying, typing the bulletin, proofing the bulletin, printing the bulletin, PowerPoint slides, stage set design, lighting, scheduling volunteers, preparing classrooms, preparing kids' curriculum and the list goes on and on. A great worship service is a lot like a great Thanksgiving meal. It takes hours of preparation.
